The Holiday calendar tells Gfacility which days aren’t working days. It sounds minor, but it touches a lot: SLA timers don’t count them, reservations get blocked on closed days, automatic notifications shift to the next working day.
Why this matters to the business
"SLA breaks on Christmas"
Mark holidays as non-working → SLA clock auto-pauses.
"Bookings on closed days"
Closure days block bookings or warn — no ghost meetings on a holiday.
"Regions celebrate differently"
Holidays per location/region — Belgian 21 July only counts for BE locations.
"Scheduled tasks on a holiday"
Recurring tasks auto-shift to the next working day.
What you record per holiday
| Field | What it drives |
|---|---|
| Name & date | "Easter — 5 April". One-off or yearly recurring. |
| Scope | Global · per country · per location · per organisation. More specific = fewer "does this apply to me?" moments. |
| Type | Fully closed · half day · informational (banner only). |
| SLA impact | Stops the SLA clock? Default yes for "closed", no for "informational". |
| Booking behaviour | Block bookings · show warning · do nothing. |
| Announcement | Optional banner on the home page ahead of the day. |
Which decisions will you make?
Per country or finer?
Country is standard. Per region only where differences exist (Brussels holiday, Catalonia).
Company-specific closures
"Bridge days", "team off-site", "year-end shutdown" — add them or leave it to personal calendars?
Retention window
Known 2-3 years ahead? Who maintains the yearly roll-over?
Communication
Activate banner X days ahead? Push to handlers that SLA will deviate?
